Rehovot Facility
The Rehovot site of the IBM R&D Labs in Israel is the home of multiple real-time collaboration products and components. Located in the Kiryat Weizmann Science Park in northern Rehovot, approximately 25 km south of Tel Aviv, the staff uses leading-edge technologies to design and develop features for the Lotus Sametime instant messaging application, the Websphere SIP container and Presence Server, and other Telco IMS components. The group has developed and improved the Sametime real-time collaboration engine, with such features as presence awareness, general awareness, text messaging, developer toolkits, and mobile real-time messaging infrastructure. It has also been a driving force in IBM's adoption and implementation of the SIP standard, and related technologies. Currently it is incubating next generation Web 2.0 collaborative technologies.
