The Long-Term Digital Preservation Assessment (LTDPA) tool is a complementary services tool aimed at assessing/certifying/auditing the maturity level of Long-Term Digital Preservation archives. It holds a list of best practices criteria that should be identifiable within a successful, and ultimately trustworthy, long-term digital preservation archival organization (a.k.a. "repository").
The best practices checklist is based on the OAIS standard and numerous years of experience developed by worldwide archival organizations and compiled by the US Center of Research Libraries (CRL) and the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) organizations. The best practices checklist was first published in February 2007.
Exploiting IBM Watson's Capability Assessment Tool (CAT) platform, the LTDPA tool supports the IBM practitioner in web-based data collection, analysis, report generation and roadmap development processes for the assessed organization. In this manner, the tool contributes to an efficient, effective and low-risk assessment service delivery, supporting the assessed organization in closing the identified gaps between current and desired states to achieve business goals.
