Here is a collection of possible rules, all of which can be handled by CCS, to demonstrate the complexity of the scheduling process.
- Agents having less than six months experience on the job should not be assigned night shifts.
- Mr. X should work the 07:30 shift every day.
- Ms. Y should start at the same hour every day.
- Group X should not work more than two evening shifts per week. In this case, an evening shift starts between 14:30 and 20:00.
- Mr. A has a special schedule of 3.5 hours a day, starting at 13:00.
- The night shift should be distributed evenly among all the agents in Group X.
- No agent should work two nights in a row.
- Exactly 10 sales agents should begin work between 09:00 and 10:00.
- Exactly 10 agents of group X should be at work between 20:00 and 22:00.
- Each agent's schedule should overlap with the team leader's schedule at least 80% of the time.
- The 7.5-hour shift is only available Mondays, starting at 08:00, 10:00, and 10:30 and mothers with small children are granted first priority for these shifts.
- The first 30-minute break in the 10 hour shift should be within the first 120 to 150 minutes from the start of the shift. The second break should be 120 to 140 minutes after the first break.
- There should be at least two Russian speakers and three Italian speakers working between 10:00 and 17:00.
- At least 5% of the Spanish-speaking, marketing agents should be onsite from 08:00 to 21:00 Monday through Friday.
- An agent can cover two shifts in one day only if the first is a morning shift until 08:00 and the second is a shift after 21:00. The agent should not work the day following a two shift day.
- An agent should work four to five days a week, with a minimum of 38 hours, not including weekend duties.
- No breaks are allowed during the peak hours of 10:00 to 12:00.
- No more than two Team A agents can be on break at the same time between 08:00 and 11:00.
- The total of all overtime hours per day should not exceed 20 hours, Monday through Friday, and 10 hours on weekends and holidays.
