BACKGROUND

HRL is initiating a software engineering workshop focusing on Programming Languages & Development Environments. The goal of this one-day workshop is to provide a forum for software engineering research communities from Israeli academia and industry. The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for active Israeli researchers in the field to share their work and exchange ideas. The workshop will furnish an environment in which issues, problems, work-in-progress, and research directions can be presented, discussed and debated.

The program committee seeks position papers, high quality technical abstracts, experience reports, and demonstrations. Workshop topics include, but are not restricted to:
  • Management of Software Assets
  • Generic Programming and Software Reuse
  • Tools and Methodologies to improve development productivity
    • Tools for Program Understanding, Impact Analysis, Revitalization, etc.
  • Reasoning and Optimization across architecture layers
  • High level Programming Languages (4GLs, Rapid Application Development Languages)
  • Application Development Environments
  • Empirical Studies of Software Tools and Methods
  • Software Metrics

The program committee is representative of a wide spectrum of activities in the area of software engineering, and we anticipate a lively and provocative workshop.


AGENDA

The workshop program will consist of
  • Invited talk by Daniel M. Yellin, Director, Software Technology at IBM Watson Research Lab.
  • Presentations (30-45 minutes each)
  • Demos or e-posters
  • Panel session "Israeli Academia-Industry Collaboration on Software Development - Directions and Prospects"
  • Relaxed coffee time during which participants can form groups based on mutual interests


SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We solicit position papers/abstracts that should be no longer than 4 pages.
Submitted papers will be evaluated based on their originality, relevance, technical quality and presentation.
Accepted presentations will be posted at a designated website prior to the workshop date.
