IBM Haifa Labs Organizational Milestones

1972 - Prof. Josef Raviv establishes the IBM Israel Scientific Center in the Technion's Computer Science Building, Haifa.
1982 - The Scientific Center moves to Andre and Bella Meyer Advanced Technology Center in Technion City, Haifa.
1982 - IBM establishes Haifa Research Group.
1983 - The Scientific Center and Haifa Research Group join to form the Science and Technology Function of IBM Israel.
1985 - Education and Science Programs (ESP) are added to Science and Technology.
1986 – The Science and Technology Function moves to the Technion’s Nuclear Engineering Building.
1989 - IBM Israel Science and Technology (IS&T) becomes a legal subsidiary of IBM Israel.
1992 - The Scientific Center formally becomes known as the Advanced Solutions Center of IBM Israel.
1993 - The Haifa Research Group becomes the Haifa Research Laboratory (HRL).
1993 - HRL moves into Building 8/1 in the Matam Advanced Technology Center, Haifa.
1999 - Prof. Michael Rodeh is appointed director of HRL.
1999 - Prof. Josef Raviv establishes IBM Development Center in Israel (HDC).
1999 - Prof. Josef Raviv is tragically killed in an automobile accident in New Zealand.
2001 - IBM Microelectronics Division opens Haifa Development Lab (HDL).
2001 - Ubique from the IBM Software Group joins the Haifa Labs, creating the IBM SWG Development Lab in Haifa (HDL/SWG).
2001 - IBM Haifa Labs move into new complex on the University of Haifa campus.
