Multicore Performance Technologies (MPT)

Overview

The Multicore Performance Technologies group develops technologies and tools for monitoring, analysis, and visualization of performance data with an emphasis on multicore and hybrid architectures. The monitoring part collects data from different parts of the application stack, starting with the hardware and operating system, via the middleware, through the application code. It utilizes existing tools whenever possible and adds collection tools if no sufficient tools exist. The analysis part includes merging and coordinating data from different sources and application levels, and identifying and abstracting patterns and bottlenecks. The presentation and visualization part includes various ways of displaying information to tool users and guiding the performance optimization task. In addition, the group is working on a programming model designed to efficiently utilize architectures such as multicore via streaming. In all our activities, we work with the academic community and publish papers in leading conferences.
